Manual Osteopathic Practitioner

Status: Actively Hiring

As a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner, you will work with a diverse patient population presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal, postural, and functional concerns. You will provide comprehensive assessments and individualized treatment plans using a variety of manual osteopathic techniques designed to restore balance, mobility, and overall wellness.

You will become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that includes chiropractors, massage therapists, and rehabilitation professionals who work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Treatment

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including postural, structural, and functional evaluations.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s unique needs and goals.
  • Deliver safe, effective manual osteopathic treatments utilizing techniques such as:
    • Myofascial Release
    • Craniosacral Therapy
    • Visceral Manipulation
    • Joint Mobilization
    • Soft Tissue Techniques
  • Educate patients on treatment recommendations, self-care strategies, and preventative approaches to wellness.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.

Documentation & Professional Practice

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic patient records.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation meets professional and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to ethical, professional, and privacy requirements.
  • Maintain professional liability insurance and all required certifications.

Collaboration & Clinic Engagement

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals within the clinic to support integrated patient care.
  • Participate in case discussions and collaborative treatment planning when appropriate.
  • Contribute to a positive clinic culture focused on excellence, respect, and patient success.
  • Support clinic growth initiatives and community engagement opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Diploma or Degree in Manual Osteopathy from a recognized institution.
  • Active membership in good standing with a recognized Alberta osteopathic association (such as NMOS or AAOMP).
  • Eligibility to obtain a municipal business license.
  • Professional liability insurance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A patient-centered approach and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving within a team environment.

Assets:

  • Existing patient base within Cochrane, Calgary, or surrounding communities.
  • Previous experience working within a multidisciplinary clinic setting.
  • Additional certifications or specialized treatment training.

About the role

As a Physiotherapist at ProActive Health, you will work with patients of all ages and activity levels, helping them recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, improve mobility, and achieve their health goals.

You will manage a diverse caseload that may include sports injuries, workplace injuries, motor vehicle accident rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, chronic pain management, and general musculoskeletal conditions.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive treatment plans that promote long-term recovery and overall wellness.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Treatment

  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and orthopedic examinations.
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and condition.
  • Deliver high-quality physiotherapy treatments utilizing:
    • Manual Therapy
    • Therapeutic Exercise
    • Prescription
      Functional Rehabilitation
    • Movement Education
    • Injury Prevention Strategies
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Educate patients on self-management techniques, home exercise programs, and long-term wellness strategies.

Documentation & Professional Practice

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic clinical records and progress reports.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines, privacy requirements, and best practices in patient care.
  • Maintain current professional registration and liability insurance coverage.

Collaboration & Clinic Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with chiropractors, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
  • Participate in case discussions and interdisciplinary treatment planning when appropriate.
  • Contribute to a positive, patient-focused clinic culture.
  • Support clinic initiatives aimed at community outreach and practice growth.
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
  • Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Current professional liability insurance coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care.
  • The ability to work independently while thriving within a collaborative team environment.

Assets:

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical setting.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training, including:
    • Dry Needling
    • IMS
    • Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
    • Concussion Management
    • Vestibular Rehabilitation
    • Sports Rehabilitation
